Little remains of Old Route 66 in arizona -- less than 100 miles -- between ashfork and Kingman. Soon after its completion in the 1930s, it had gained lore as "the mother road," stretching some 2,500 miles betweeen chicago and santa monica. it has been supplanted by I-40. the swath through arizona was completed in 1984. its construction effectively paved over innumerable memories ... and stories. the few remaining retail stores stay alive selling souvenirs. this collection of images, shot in its entirety with an iphone, serves as my own memento.
