Late-afternoon chowdown. Bestowing a love pat to one of the feasting Belties is a resident farmhand. The cows remain outdoors year-round, 24/7. At the age of about two years, the animals find their way to the butcher block. The farm also sells the meat itself. While I was there the sticker price for hamburger -- entirely grass-fed, if you please -- was $6.00 a pound. I refrained from indulging, not so much for the cost but because it meant I would have to cook a meal for myself. Sorry, not in Tom's gastronomic playbook. [UFP100812]
