This and five frames following, exposures from Monhegan Island, an artist community that sits an hourlong boat ride off shore. The day we visited was the last of the season for thrice-daily trips from Port Clyde. Thereafter, until reopening of the season next May, runs are reduced to one daily, and these strictly for delivery of mail (and collection of sacksful of trash. The island has no landfill of its own. This shot is of the Monhegan light house and head light. The boat was thrown in for my photographic benefit. J/K. Headcount of year-round residents? "Between 30 and 40," a merchant whispered. Shh! They don't want the IRS to know. [UFP100912]
