Images taken August 23, 2012, at Desert Valley Auto Parts in Phoenix. There are some 3,000 vehicles (and parts thereof) on lot of 30 acres, purportedly largest salvage yard in the U.S. It is open to the public seven days a week. Admission is $2.00 and you can stay the entire day ... if you can stand the summer heat. DVAP was subject of a cable TV series that ran on cable for one season, 2011. Public auctions are held every three weeks, picking makeover candidates from their yard. Those I have seen (via TV show) are beautifully restored and sell for a fraction of hammer price they would at fetch at any professional auction house, such as Mecum, Gooding, and Bartlett & Johnson.
