having consulted a roadmap, I was looking forward to the "world famous" four corners "monument." siting on a native american reservation and privately operated, it would not be inaccurate to call it a tourist trap. admission $5/vehicle. way overpriced. the "monument" was a manhole-sized medallion in the ground engraved with crosshairs purported to pinpoint the intersection of four states -- arizona, utah, colorado and new mexico. surrounding it was a quadrant of tacky vending booths, everyone peddling the same souvenirs. I abstained, figuring $5 was enough of a ripoff.
